DESERT RIDGE

Perched atop a prominent ridge overlooking St. George, this 0.60-acre site offers sweeping views of the Pine Valley Mountains in the distance. The new Spanish-style home embraces its elevated setting with a Mediterranean-inspired plant palette and a landscape design that defines outdoor spaces as a series of flexible, connected “rooms.” This approach supports seamless circulation while creating distinct zones for gathering, play, and quiet retreat.

Designed for a growing family, the landscape program balances activity with a sense of formality. A large formal lawn, framed by paver walkways and low landscape walls, provides ample space for both casual games and large family events. Rows of trees offer privacy and vertical structure while also serving a functional role—inviting the family to harvest fruit together. A generous pool area, thoughtfully placed for sun and views, welcomes both adults and children with space to relax, play, and connect.

Closer to the home, structured planting reinforces the feel of traditional Spanish courtyards, with well-defined spaces and rhythmic planting patterns. As the design moves outward, naturalized groupings of Mediterranean-adapted species in crushed rock transition into the surrounding environment. Informal gravel paths encourage wandering and discovery, blending the cultivated garden seamlessly into the native desert landscape beyond.
