From a series of photos, notes, sketches, and questions saved for later research, each field study focuses on three areas: 1) the geophysical makeup (landform, vegetation and land cover, human elements, and transitory elements like weather and lighting), 2) the cultural and historical context, and 3) the emotive qualities of a place.​
