This spa-inspired desert home retreat is located on a half-acre parcel in the Sand Hollow Resort outside Hurricane, Utah. Surrounded by the dramatic rock formations, mesas and mountains of southern Utah, this space evokes a sense of serenity, ease and calm within the desert landscape.

The landscape utilizes airy, textural trees like olive and chitalpa overhead with blue-gray and sage green plantings in light gravel below to reinforce a feeling of relaxation within the space. Creating depth and privacy with staggered courtyard walls at the front entry, visitors get a sneak peek into the landscaped courtyard through punched steel screens before entering through the front gate. Similar design language is carried throughout the site as low courtyard walls provide separation of public and private spaces, providing a backdrop to sculptural desert plants like agave, sotol and yucca.

The backyard provides ample opportunity to take in the views to the distant mesas and mountains with flexible space for gathering and entertaining.
