SCENIC TERRACE

Partially nestled into a steep front slope and elevated above the landscape at the rear, this home’s linear architecture is echoed in the landscape’s few but purposeful built elements. These features guide movement and sightlines toward sweeping views that stretch over and beyond Yakima. The design balances restraint with warmth, using minimal interventions to highlight the natural topography and frame curated vistas that invite the outdoors in through sculptural, intentional planting.

A hands-on garden space offers the homeowners and their grandchildren a place to connect through cultivation, while a small row of fruit trees nods to the site’s orchard history. Thoughtfully composed plantings create a rhythm of high- and low-maintenance areas, tailored to a garden enthusiast's lifestyle. The result is a personal, grounded landscape that feels both expansive and intimate, modern yet deeply rooted in memory and place.
